Event CategoriesThere are a number of different ways in which to participate in the Freycinet Lodge Challenge. In 2011 there will be both one and two day entries accepted. The one day race will be on Sunday 9th October. Individuals Certainly the most demanding and perhaps one of the most rewarding ways to attempt the challenge! The individual completes the entire course. There are categories for the open female and open male individuals, as well as veteran and masters individuals. Two Person Teams This category provides more variety than the conventional three or four person format. The requirement is that one team member completes each leg of the course, which they are required to specify in advance, but there is an expectation that each member will complete at least one leg per day. . Three or Four Person Teams This race format involves teams of three or four completing the course as a traditional relay, with team mates tagging at each transition. While competitors in these categories tend to specialise in one discipline for the duration of the race, this is not essential. There are categories for male teams, female teams and mixed teams, and age categories, of open, veteran and masters. Category Notes:Veterans Teams: All members must be aged 40 years or over (as of 8th October, 2011) Masters Teams: All members must be aged 50 years or over (as of 8th October, 2011) Corporate Teams: All team members must work for the same company, and as long as there are enough corporate teams to constitute a category, there will be a prize for winning corporate team, otherwise will be classified according to age/gender. Junior Teams: All members must be under the age of 18 (as of 8th October, 2011) Underage competitors must be a minimum age of 14 years to participate in a team, and must not compete in more than one discipline. Minimum age for individual competitors (one day event only) is 16 years. Underage competitors and their parent/guardian must make themselves aware of what the event entails, and the underage competitors must be well prepared in terms of physical conditioning, gear/equipment and support. A parent/guardian must sign the disclaimer on behalf of an underage competitor. There is not a short course for juniors. If it is their first event, it is recommended they stick with just doing the one day event on the Sunday as an introduction to multi-sport events. Finally, underage competitors must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult and the race organisers do not accept any responsibility for looking after underage competitors or their equipment. Nor are underage competitors permitted into the licensed areas of the Freycinet Lodge without the supervision of a responsible adult. |
